For its Marketplace initiative, Decathlon is looking for a legal in-house counsel to join the team.


Function

As a legal and compliance counsel at Decathlon you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Manage Ethics & Compliance matters within your designated area of responsibility
  • Advise on diverse legal matters and disputes, in close collaboration with external legal experts
  • Draw-up recommendations and propose solutions in order to reduce identified legal risks and seize legal opportunities
  • Review, discuss and negotiate a wide range of (commercial) contracts
  • Actively contribute to negotiations and provide legal insights on strategic company projects
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments to ensure full compliance with the law and driving the implementation of tailored compliance programs (including business ethics, sustainability regulations, GDPR, human rights , …)
  • Support the establishing of risk assessment initiatives related to corruption risk, code of conduct, whistleblowing, third party due diligence and accounting procedures
  • Maintain close contact with the Group Compliance team and regional/local compliance stakeholders
  • Perform and assist in compliance risk analyses and internal assessments
  • Investigate and solve reported concerns that may compromise Decathlon’s Ethics & Compliance standards
  • Raise awareness regarding the Ethics & Compliance program among Decathlon’s employees
  • Train local teams on the Ethics & Compliance program
  • Report all incidents related to corruption, fraud, or influence peddling to both local and Group Compliance teams
  • Alert local and/or group Compliance team regarding any breach of the Ethics & Compliance program

Profile

Decathlon is looking for an ambitious, pragmatic and business oriented legal professional, who wants to create sustainable value.

Some of the required skills are:

  • Master’s degree in law
  • At least 5-10 years of legal experience, as a lawyer, in-house legal counsel or legal interim manager, with specific interest in compliance and commercial law topics
  • Fluent (both written as orally) in Dutch and/or French, good command (both written as orally) of French, Dutch and English
  • Ability to work independently, but you also enjoy working as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Initiative-taker and flexible mindset
  • Dynamic, business-oriented, pragmatic and creative in complex situations
  • Well-organized and able to work on several projects simultaneously
